HOW WE TURN ASHES TO DIAMONDS
Creating a precious stone that encompasses a lifetime of memories of a loved one is a highly personal and intimate process that needs to be handled with the utmost care. For this reason, it’s essential the industry’s highest standards and best practices are adhered to in order to render the best results.
At Heart In Diamond, we take our level of commitment a step further by supporting you every step of the way throughout the cremation process. From choosing the right diamond color for your needs to ensuring the diamond is delivered on a day that’s convenient for you, we go the extra mile to make this difficult time in your life as uncomplicated as possible.
STEP ONE:
After you’ve placed your order and Heart In Diamond has received your signed Purchasing Order Form, you receive a unique ID number. This identification number lets you visit the Order Tracking Page and track the status of your order any time you like.
The next stage to turning ashes to diamonds is to send the cremated ashes to our laboratory. Regardless as to the type of diamond you wish to create, you need to send ⅔ cup of ashes.
When we receive the ashes, a thorough analysis is conducted to accurately determine the chemical composition of the sample before moving onto step two.
STEP TWO:
After analysis, carbon is carefully extracted from the ashes provided. The extracted carbon is then added to a foundation suitable for diamond growing. It’s from this foundation that your personalized gem is grown in a unique crystalline matrix.
STEP THREE:
Your diamond-growing foundation is placed into a machine that creates the extremely high temperatures and pressures needed to turn ashes to diamonds. This sophisticated machine mimics the conditions found deep inside Earth’s crust.
This is the reason that cremation diamonds and mined diamonds are practically identical — they’re both made in the same way. The only differences are that cremation diamonds are made from the ashes of a loved one inside a laboratory, while mined diamonds are made from naturally-occuring carbon within the Earth.
The high pressure high temperature (HPHT) conditions used to turn ashes into diamonds include temperatures of up to 2000°C and the pressure of up to 60,000 atmospheres. After being exposed to these intense conditions for several weeks, your one-of-a-kind diamond is born.
STEP FOUR:
After the rough diamond has been created, our diamond specialists cut and polish your gem according to your requirements. It’s during this stage that your diamond takes its final shape and develops its glittering shine. If you’ve requested to have your diamond engraved with a special message, it will also be added at this time.
STEP FIVE:
Strict quality controls and grading processes follow the cutting and polishing phase. After these measures have been met, an Authenticity Certificate is issued for your diamond which includes every detail about your customized gem.
If you chose to have your diamond made from ashes placed into a jewelry setting, that stage is also completed at this time. Finally, your unique diamond is secured within beautiful packaging and delivered to your doorstep for you to cherish forever.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE DIAMONDS OUT OF ASHES?
The Earth takes millions of years to make diamonds, but we can turn ashes to diamonds in a matter of months, thanks to the help of advanced technology and industry experts.
As the HPHT conditions need to be applied for a considerable amount of time to allow the diamond to grow, we can’t make your unique diamond overnight. Depending on the type of diamond you want, it takes our experts 70-120 days to create your keepsake after they’ve received your sample of ashes.
Although this might seem a long period of time, our sophisticated techniques and equipment mean that the Heart In Diamond creation process is one of the fastest in the industry. Turning ashes to diamonds is a meaningful artform and the spectacular results are worth the wait.
WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE CHOOSING DIAMONDS FROM ASHES?
After losing a loved one, it’s natural to want to keep their memory close to your heart. As modern technology advances, we’re discovering more creative and innovative ways to achieve that goal.
Years ago, your only options following a cremation were to store the ashes inside an urn or scatter them somewhere important. For some people, these options seem impersonal and don’t provide the sense of closure they so desperately need. Thankfully, more choices are available today.
In 2021, many people are choosing to turn their loved one’s ashes to diamonds. The process of designing a one-of-a-kind diamond to represent someone you’ve lost provides a great sense of comfort while you’re grieving.
After the healing process begins and you find the strength to move on with your life, the precious keepsake will continue to act as a permanent reminder of the special connection you shared with the deceased and all the wonderful times you spent together.
Turning ashes into diamonds is so much more personal, meaningful and significant than storing them inside an urn or scattering them somewhere. That’s why it’s one of the most popular options for people who are looking for closure while deciding what to do with cremated remains.
Ashes kept inside urns will be forgotten about, ashes scattered outside will blow away and tattoos made by combining ashes with ink will fade. But diamonds made from ashes will live on eternally, forever providing you with an unparalleled sense of peace and an ever-lasting connection with your loved one.
