What is the Perfect Diamond Cut?
The cut of a diamond refers to its subtle finish. If a diamond is cut well, it will appear bright and luminous, with intense contrasts and a dazzling sparkle. One of the most important factors used to evaluate diamonds is cut. The term is not difficult to understand; however, it is important to understand that cut does not refer to the shape of a diamond. A diamond with a sub-par cut will appear darker and less brilliant. The grading system for diamond cuts is extremely simple–diamonds are ranked either excellent, very good, good, fair, or poor.
Most Popular Diamond Cuts
- Round- ,As the name implies, this cut is rather symmetrical and round. It is extremely common on account of the fact that it is exceptionally good at reflecting light, and thus quite luminescent.
- Princess- Princess cut diamonds are somewhat rectangular and a common choice for placement within rings. They are reflective and versatile, used in numerous types of jewelry.
- Marquise- The marquise cut, longer and thinner than most, is popular because it has a great amount of surface area and can seem much larger than it actually is.
- Emerald- Emerald cut offers a unique optical appearance because of the rectangular facets step-cut into the diamond’s pavilion, and showcases the original clarity.
