Common Diamond Misconceptions

Not everything you know about diamonds is true!

Pressurized coal

Diamonds are not made from pressurized coal, as poetic as the concept may seem. Coal is composed of much more than just carbon. You may be able to make a diamond from coal, but it would be very impure and therefore have little worth.

The more facets, the more brilliant

While facets are what give a diamond its shine, it is not the number of facets that affect its brilliance. The amount of light your diamond will reflect will be a result of how well the facets in your diamond are cut. Dozens of poorly cut facets will never yield what a few well cut facets will.
