The Worlds First Engagement Ring - Heart In Diamond
Engagement rings have a long and complex history. There is evidence that even cavemen would sometimes tie braided rings of grass around their chosen mates wrists or ankles in order to symbolize their choice and to bring her spirit under his control. Later, in the middle ages, rings made of rushes were used during wedding ceremonies to symbolize the binding nature of matrimony. Finally, in 1477, the first modern engagement ring was used. Austrian archduke Maximilian proposed Mary of Burgundy and offered her a ring that had a small M written in tiny diamonds. She said yes, and a tradition was born.
