The Mir Mine - Heart In Diamond
Even your “average” diamond mine tends to be pretty incredible: After all, diamonds can be harvested in a number of impressive ways, such as being caught in the outlet of a major river or taken from mining tunnels deep under the surface of the earth. But the Mir Mine in Eastern Russia just might take the cake as the most mindblowing diamond mine of all. One of the deepest man made excavations in the world, this mine is so enormous that helicopters have been banned from flying within its vicinity due to the possibility of air currents sucking them down into the depths of this gem-filled crater in the otherwise monotonous plains of Siberia.
